iHood – A Modern Retelling of Little Red Riding Hood

	Richard Mansfield is a UK based filmmaker and animator, and he created a modern retelling of Little Red Riding Hood using Explain Everything! Check out the full video below.

My name is Richard Mansfield, and I’m a film maker. I started making films with marionettes (string puppets) back in 2005. I then moved onto shadow puppetry to bring ghost stories and dark fairy tales to life. One thing I’ve always wanted to do is make animations. I discovered Explain Everything through their original animation app Photopuppet HD. Since then I’ve been experimenting with Explain Everything to bring my stories to life.

With Explain Everything I have created a modern retelling of Little Red Riding Hood called ‘iHood’. All the drawn elements I used to create the animation in the film were created on an iPad using an app called ARTStudio. To make the most of Explain Everything’s features I drew all the cartoons in sections and exported each section (Body, arms, head etc) as PNG files which could then be imported into Explain Everything and animated independently. I made each scene separately and then I made a simple edit in iMovie and used Final Cut Pro X to do the final edit adding sound effects and music.
