Making the most of limited tech in the classroom
Meet Ioannis, an English teacher from Rottweil, who has it all figured out.
Maximilian-Kolbe-Schule might not have many mobile devices yet, but that hasn’t stopped Ioannis from utilizing the power of edtech! With just an iPad, Explain Everything and an in-class display, he engages his students with dynamic, media-packed lessons everyone can participate in.
No heavy book bag, no constant trips to the photocopier – Ioannis is living proof of how practical and time-saving edtech can (and should!) be. His method is surprisingly simple and impressively effective: every class he teaches has its own dedicated Explain Everything project containing *all of the materials needed for the entire semester* neatly organized on one infinite canvas.
When he connects wirelessly to the classroom display panel, everyone is on the same page…literally! The wide array of tools available in Explain Everything lets him then zoom in on, point to or highlight anything he wants. Ioannis also likes to spontaneously jot students’ answers and ideas down on the canvas, or put up scans of their tests to discuss common mistakes or compliment a job well done. Whatever the lesson topic, his students are constantly engaged in their own learning process – this is constructivist teaching philosophy at work.

Next stop: schoolwide deployment 🚀
Thanks to the determination of Ioannis and his fellow tech-savvy teachers, Maximilian-Kolbe-Schule is currently planning a wide-scale iPad/Explain Everything trial. We join them in their excitement about all of the new creative possibilities giving students access to these tools will bring. For now, Ioannis’ savvy use of the tech available to him can be an inspiration to us all.
